I don't think its helped by mc using uzip instead of unzip to unpack it. 
uzip is slower. But all the renaming needed because wget is busted sure 
as tooting don't help. This wget gets a deadly belly ache for the -O 
option. :(

Thanks Chris. FWIW, this isn't a slow machine, its a 6 core I5 rated for 
3.7 gigahertz, with 32Gigs of dram to play in. This is a BIG project 
though...
