I have just a standard Microsoft cordless mouse. It is connected to a Linux PC and is used too many hours a week on CAD (Fusion 360) Which CAD you use might matter because I think some systems allow you to program shortcuts.
I think all you really need is one that works smoothly and reliably and has a center scroll wheel.
