----------empyre- soft-skinned space----------------------
Hello -empyre- subscribers,
First just a follow up to thank Margaret and all of her guests for the month of
October for her generous nurturance of the topic on Practice and Play: Gestures
Across Genres. I was so thrilled to see that you began the month with Tony
Conrad. What a nice reflection on the influences he had on so many of us. And
as the month spun on the range of topics were so inventive. Kudos to you all.

This month we welcome Margaretha Haughwout. Many of you might have caught her
posts in September during Shulea Cheang's moderation. She has curated on a
topic that do not believe we have ever featured on an -empyre- discussion. I
really looking forward to this month that concerns "magical practices and their
connections to technology. We ask, is magic a fugitive technology? Can
technology be understood as one kind of magic? Is modernity a spell that can be
broken?"

ALL CALL TO OUR -empyre- SUBSCRIBERS: IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN AS A FEATURED
GUEST. DOES YOUR CREATIVE PRACTICE OR WRITING VENTURE INTO MAGIC OR THE
MAGICAL? PLEASE LET ME KNOW BACK CHANNEL AND I CAN SEND YOUR INFO ON TO
MARGARETHA. SHE WILL INTRODUCE THE TOPIC ON MONDAY.

In the meantime, have a great weekend. For those of you in the US remember to
vote on Tuesday in the election. Only local and state candidates are on the
ballot but PLEASE exercise your right to vote. In the Ferro/Murray household
we are helping to canvas voters and get out the vote this weekend in the Town
of Caroline.

Best Wishes to all of you.
Renate (and Tim)
