IISD RS is pleased to announce that the newest issue of MEA Bulletin is now
available. It and all past issues can be accessed by visiting
http://www.iisd.ca/email/mea-l.htm

The 37th issue of MEA Bulletin contains two guest articles on subjects related
to the upcoming UN Climate Change Conference in Bali:

* Romina Picolotti, Argentina’s Minister of Environment, authored “A Tale
of Two Cities: Lessons for Climate Negotiators.” She explores lessons from the
Montreal Protocol’s governance system that climate negotiators in Bali should
seek to emulate.

* Mélanie Requier-Desjardins, Observatoire du Sahara et du Sahel,
authored “Climate Variability, a Common Factor of Desertification and Climate
Change.” She examines the relationship between desertification and climate
change and develops suggestions to ensure that efforts related to adaptation
and desertification converge.

This issue also includes reports on recent meetings of the Global Environment
Facility Council and the first extraordinary session of the Conference of the
Parties to the UN Convention to Combat Desertification.
