I've done something similar with Firefox. My Firefox data is
automatically unmounted (getting the password from the keyring) whenever
I launch it.

I wrote a tutorial for it, and once it's set up there is no maintenance
work, you might find some useful tips to help you setup email in the
same way. (It basically just requires a bit of renaming and changing the
path to the encrypted folder)
