- From what I can see of tormail, it does not offer encryption, which considerably weakens anonymity, particularly in the context of email where names often appear in signatures even when they aren't somehow given away in the headers (especially the To: and From: lines). To go this route, you're going to need to impose some discipline with your interlocutors anyway, at which point I would suggest something like bitmessage, which employs both Tor and encryption. This has the advantage of forcing people into a different and presumably secure environment. For normal usage, it makes sense to opportunistically encrypt with GnuPG. From the phrasing of Enigmail's options, I'm not clear that it actually offers this.
