A couple of thoughts --

First, although my proposal used "Privacy", "Authenticity", and
"Identity", icons would probably be better -- I didn't use icons because
I couldn't think of good icons for the three concepts.

Evolution likes to use a wax seal to denote a digital signature. I
don't like that icon; wax seals aren't just used to sign documents, but
they're also used to *seal* documents, to prevent unauthorized people
from viewing them. This is just bad iconography.

Iconography is a big thing. I would like to see icons instead of
"Privacy", "Authenticity", and "Identity", but I don't know what those
icons would be.

Second, I don't think the sender's UID needs to be displayed *if* the
sender's email address matches an email address on the certificate. If
we declare a message is authentic and identity confirmed, users are
going to assume the identity in the From: field is what's confirmed. If
the email address in the From: field is different from all the email
addresses on the signing certificate, though, then we definitely need to
make that information immediately available to the user.

Third, iconography lends itself very nicely to binary states. If we're
confirming something, the icon is showed in full color. If we're not,
the icon is grayed out. I don't know how we'd do a trinary state icon.
We probably could, but -- I don't know how.

Fourth, we should also consider users with visual disabilities. Some
users are color-blind, others can't see at all. I think if we were to
put descriptive text in tooltips this would be sufficient to handle our
visually impaired users.
