When responding to an email, the following happens:
The Write window opens, and Thunderbird shows a 'Not responding'
message. This is regardless of whether the original message is encrypted
or not.
For about 10 sec 'pEp Privacy status: Unknown' is shown in the status
bar of the Write window at the bottom left.
During this time no text can be entered into the body of the new mail,
and no recipient email addresses can be edited.
This is pretty annoying. I believe the 'pEp' message did already show up
in the status bar prior to TB60, however, it got a whole lot worse with
TB60.
This is not limited to a single computer, however, on other computers
with a Thunderbird/Enigmail installation the hang either doesn't occur
or is barely noticed.
I neither need nor want pEp. The pref extensions.enigmail.juniorMode is
set to 0 already, so pEp should be forced off. But evidently it isn't.
How can I ultimately disable pEp?
After all, I don't think incorporating pEp into Enigmail was a brilliant
idea.

Another thought.
Is it possible that the problem is related to the pref
extensions.enigmail.keyRefreshOn? I can't tell right now whether the
value is set to true or false. In any case, no key server will be
reached due to a corporate firewall.

Windows 10 64-bit, TB60, Enigmail 2.0.8, gnupg 2.2.9
Thank you.
