Hello everybody, Engage looks really nice and I wanted to give it a try. I checked out the E17 sources and Engage from CVS a few days ago and compiled them.
So far so good. Now for the problems: When I start engage from a terminal without options it return the following (error) messages: WARNING: not a utf8 locale! Esmart_Trans Error: Could not read root window pixmap property! Esmart_Trans Error: Cannot create transparency pixmap: no valid wallpaper and no background color set. am a system tray :) :) Instead of being transparent it draws a black rectangle onto the background inside of which I can see a small grey rectangle with the icons I added. This happens with the Blackbox window manager (version 0.65.0) and E17 which are running on top of XFree86 provided by Debian/unstable, a heavily patched version 4.3. When I call Engage with `engage -m 0', the "Esmart_Trans Error" messages vanish and I get a transparent background (except for a grey box which vanishes if one supplies the `-T 0' option). Unfortunately there remain artifacts when one hovers with the mouse over the icons. That means when you move the mouse away again from the icons, you can still see what was drawn onto the screen when the icon was zoomed and the description was displayed. All of this doesn't happen if I start X without a window manager. Are these known problems with certain window managers?
