It doesn't matter, and it's not where your problem is. It seems to be a
build chain problem. The problem seems really weird, maybe it's build
something in the wrong order?
What autoconf etc. version are you using?
Yeps... I agree that it's freakin weird! :) And the thing is: I've a
feeling that I've been the only one getting weird builds this days.

Are you running make -j ?
