Hi,
Well....just placing something of the desktop is the easiest thing what
you can do. And this was i think in the most basic window managers from
the beginning. So that's not an innovative idea itself.

Panels can do things like hiding at be border, doing overlays if the
mouse enters and other stuff. They are very useful especially for people
with small desktops. But, well, i am glad that gadget shells or whatever
are in the TODO.
