Actually this is a bit of misinterpretation of things.

First of all, VLC engine is broken, unmaintained and unless someone
takes over it, it may be removed. That warning issued, let's go to
licensing facts:

if one software (ie: emotion) that is not GPL, but is said compliant,
uses a GPL one (ie: vlc), the resulting software is just considered
GPL while the bond is made.  IOW, if one never loads vlc engine, the
dynamic cast is not done.

This dynamic cast is what make GPL-complaint software. Basically the
licenses allow in a way or another runtime re-licensing to GPL of the
resulting product.

The way it was put "And so is all of its dependancies then: Evas, Eina
..."  may lead to incorrect interpretation that always/unconditionally
all EFL is GPL just because Emotion provides VLC that is GPL.

I hope the situation is clarified.
