Hey. Make the container class signal aware is out of question, please forget it. Notify is perfectly fine to be transformed into a layout. It just wasn't made so at the time because those placement calculations would have to happen now in the theme, via messages, signals and whatnot as to maintain the behavior. Not impossible, but a bit tricky. Be my guest to make it happen. But please don't touch the container class.
