Its great to hear that you have interested in helping out with it! Beber (cc'ed) handles our systems and he would be the one you should talk to. He is also in Europe so the timezone benefit would be void. :) Obviously we are not handing out root access to our servers light-heartedly. Many of our core devs do not have root access either. Its about building trust over time and actions. In the end this is really up to beber how he wants to handle this.
