It would be worth looking at cmake as well, given reasonable effort has been put into moving efl to it. While its not essential that efl and e use the same build system using the same means there's one less thing for a bunch of people to maintain. As long as it doesn't have silly dependencies that are hard to package like go or javascript it doesn't matter too much to me.
