Well I like everything I learned from this thread. 

        1) emprint isn't going away
        2) when some distro don't include emprint these is still import
        3) eventually E17's module will get more of emprint's good stuff

Though for me #3) will only matter if I'm using a distro with neither
emprint nor import because I like using standalone tools that will work
in E16 or other window managers...
