Thanks Jon, Didn't see anything in ~/.local/share/applications, and no .desktop file. Since the other user didn't have a problem I didn't think the /usr/share/applications was it. What did fix the problem was to move the ~/.cache directory out of the way by renaming it. All the icons came back. Then I just deleted the renamed .cache directory.
