Wha I have seen relatively commonly is people with multiple keymaps and
switching between them - like a us qwerty and a russian one and a french one or
something and they physically use the same keyboard and just switch keymaps
when switching lang - but not a user private custom one. :) they bind keys to
switch keymaps and the xkb gadget shows the current keymap etc. :)

you can try the "don't touch my kbd layout" of course... that should have e
leave it alone...
