if you can provide me with some indicator of the issue like one of the
suspicions above by throwing in lots of printfs in various layers and logging
them and finding out what is up... i\ll happily discuss/help fix things. but i
don't see it :( either way.....

i have color classes to do. working my way through that. my current test palette
