Bill,

Per the C2 manual:

3. The management election process uses the following precedence to assign a
management switch:
a. Previously assigned / elected management unit
b. Management assigned priority (values 1‐15)
c. Hardware preference level
d. Highest MAC Address

So the switch that was the previously assigned or elect manager will be the
manager again. The priority is only used if the old manager is not there and a
new manager needs to be elected. Use the “set switch movemanagement fromunit
tounit “ command to move the manager to the switch that you want as the
manager. After that all subsequent reboots should have that same switch come up
as the manager.

Subject: [enterasys] C2 stack order

I was under the impression that the following series of commands would permit
us to control the order of a C2 stack as well as determining which switch will
be assigned the Mgr role.

set switch 1 priority 15
set switch 2 priority 13
set switch 3 priority 11

I find in this stack that switch 2 has become manager for the stack.

Perhaps I misunderstood the powers for these “priority” commands - is there any
way for the user to override the Mgr negotiations in a stack?

Bill
