Hi,

my initial guess would be slow DNS resolution causing delay before the
search is initiated.  If that's not it, it's probably worth filing a bug at
https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/enter_bug.cgi?product=Firefox&component=Address%20Bar
Include details of when in the sequence the delay happens.
