You can read mail in the Preview pane. You set the number of seconds to mark
mail as read. Then use your space bar to go to the next message.

You can open a message in it's own window, which is what it sound like you
are doing.�Use these shortcut to go to anther message.

 command+[  Display the previous message.
  ====
  command+]  Display the next message.


  CTRL+[  Display the previous unread message.
  ====
  CTRL+]  Display the next unread message.
