I'm wondering if anyone interested and affected by the following could respond.
I will soon be releasing two sets of scripts to export and import almost everything - contacts, groups, calendar, tasks, notes, messages, folders, custom views, accounts, mailing lists, signatures - from one identity of Entourage X or 2001 to any other of the same or the other version, separately for each sort of item. You'll be able to choose all, or selected, items, or a subset by category in Entourage X, or various other ways. There are also conversion scripts to export to and from Outlook Mac and Windows, Yahoo and Hotmail online calendars and address books, and to Excel, from where you can make necessary adjustments and export on to other PIMs or FileMaker Pro. Also archive message folders by date, and lots of other stuff. Here's the question. For Entourage X, I will make it fully international, usable by people with all languages and alphabets (including Asian, east European, etc.). That can be done by using Entourage's and AppleScript's Unicode capabilities. But AppleScript's Unicode, in a way that it can be used in these scripts, was not introduced until OS 9.1. So for Entourage 2001, I have to decide whether to make it Unicode - restricting the scripts to 9.1/9.2 users but making them useable by people with 2001 outside North America and Western Europe - or leave out Unicode, restricting the scripts to North Americans and Western Europeans but enabling users on OS 8.6 and 8.1 (are there many of you left?) to use the scripts. This is probably not the right place to ask, since 95% of you are probably English-speaking, (and most on 9.1 or X, as well, so either version would be fine for you) and would be weighted towards the non-Unicode version if you're on 8.6. But I'd appreciate hearing any opinions here. -- Paul Berkowitz MVP Entourage Please "Reply To Newsgroup" or mailing list to reply to this message. -- To unsubscribe: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> archives: <http://www.mail-archive.com/entourage-talk%40lists.letterrip.com/> old-archive: <http://www.mail-archive.com/entourage-talk%40lists.boingo.com/>
