After experiencing the database bloat which rendered my Palm Vx unusable, I took the following steps:
1. Exported my Ent Contacts to a tab text file. 2. Deleted all Ent Contacts. 3. synced with "Entourage overwrites handheld," cleaning out the handheld address book. 4. Imported the text file back into Ent Contacts, and at the same time setting the custom fields. 5. Re-synced, with "synchronize" setting.
