I've synced maybe several dozen times since, and the sizes on all databases
remain the same.  Having said that, however, I'd still like to know what
caused the bloat on the first sync, AND I'd like to know what's going to
happen when the repaired conduit is released.

Needless to say, I'm backing up everything, religiously.
