Don't delete the enclosing identity folder (e.g. "Main Identity") unless you want to go through setting up a new identity. Just delete the files <in> the identity folder. That will get rid of all messages, contacts, rules, schedules, or whatever you have set or messed up so far. :-) Then, import.
