Thanks for the advice, I am unable to delete the message because as soon as the pointer goes over the msg the error pops up. I have removed the preview pane but still have the same problem.
The second part of you mail I am unable to do because when I start up Entourage with the option key held down it just starts without giving an option to do anything else?
Quitting the daemon, is that removing the Entourage entry from the Login in system preferences? If it is, then I did that before restarting Entourage, if it isn't then how do I quit the daemon?
Thanks for your patience
Ian
MAC OS X ver 10.1.5
Entourage Ver 10.1.1
Sorry if these are novice Q’s but I only switched to the Mac 6 months ago and have never had the slightest hint of a problem up to now.

I use Entourage and have received a mail that displays the following error when the pointer passes over it.

I cannot delete the mail as the error is displayed as soon as the pointer goes over the message, and have to click OK on the msg before I can do anything else in Entourage.
I have followed the fix of adding the line of scrip “tell application "Microsoft Database Daemon" to quit “
to the scrip editor and saving it then removing the entries from the login in system preferences but I still have the same problem.
Also all the messages below the corrupt mail are not visible until they are clicked on.
Go to View menu/Preview Pane, or press command-\, to turn the Preview Pane off. Now when he click on the message, you will be able to delete it. If this is a POP account and a local folder, then go to Tools/Run Schedule/Empty Deleted Items Items Folder. If it is an IMAP account set up with its own Deleted Items Folder, quit Entourage so it will get purged, or if set up to "mark for deletion" press command-K to connect to the account to purge it. If it's a POP account where you leave all messages on the server, write back and I'll explain how to remove it from the server too.
However, -4362 is not the usual error for a corrupt message, I don't think, but more usually seen with other database problems, so just possibly deleting the message will not solve your problems. Wait and see. If everything is fine after you delete the message, great. If not, you'll have to rebuild the database. Quit Entourage, quit the Daemon as you know how to do and other Office apps, then launch Entourage while holding down the Option key. Select Advanced Rebuild. That should fix any remaining problem.
