Sorry, I knew I hadn't checked that that worked, just that the reverse did. I've now played around with it, and I think I know how to get the configuration one wants, although I have no idea why! Try this, anyway, and let's see if it works for you too. Open the calendar window. Uncheck the tasks pane. Now switch the view from whatever you have to something else (month to week or day or whatever). Switch back to original view.
