Very interesting topic, is actually about 'good computership'.
Why don't you split the tasks for both computers:
1. on the static computer heavy lay-outing, photoshop, film kind of
activities  + your wife's email account there.

2. Your mobile computer only contains EntX+your account and some demo
programs, Appleworks,....

3. Synchronisation only between your mobile computer and your palmheld ?
