I've seen something similar with entourage over the last year, not your
exact problem but rather entourage would start to die and the database file
would just get huge- and there just weren't enough messages to justify the
size (2-3gigs). Not even close... Ie, quite literally the database went from
30megs and over  aperiod of time just shot up. Couldn't figure it out to
save my life, did all the tricks mentioned to you.

Turned out to have something to do with emails that had attachments, either
saved or in the sent items folder. Nothing else solved it except going
through and removing any message I could find with an attachment, and for
good measure turning off any automatic links and such. Deleted them,
rebuilt, and it worked fine. I can only guess that there is something weird
in how entourage's database deals with some attachments, or in how it saves
them...

Had it happen with a clients computer too, and doing the above fixed it, and
I worked with someone via email who I tried to help with the same issue- his
hasn't been fixed, it jumped from 30 to a few gigs and then dropped to 300
doing the above, but it keeps growing dramatically.
