This sounded like really strange behavior to me :-), but it just did the
same thing for me. The event shows an ending date of 12/5, but on my monthly
calendar it's blocked through Dec. 30 (I assume that's what you  mean by
until Dec. 31). Oddly (and this may at least solve your problem, although it
certainly doesn't explain it), when I created the same event by double
clicking on Nov. 6th on the monthly calendar instead of by creating a new
event using the "new" menu button, it worked correctly - ended on Dec. 5th
instead of Dec. 30th.
