First, you want to connect the two machines. A $10 Ethernet Crossover cable is the simplest way to do so, assuming both machines have Ethernet ports. Then, turn on File Sharing with Appletalk on both computers (Network preference panel to turn on local Ethernet; Sharing preference panel to turn on file sharing). In Finder, on either machine, go to the "Go" menu and connect to the other computer. You'll need to give the correct username and password for the other computer, and then you can mount the other computer's disk(s) on this computer. Once you have done that: Open Entourage on both computers. If you have an entire folder of messages you want to transfer, drag that folder to the desktop of your machine, then drag the resulting file to the disk of the iBook. On the iBook, drag that file onto the Entourage icon in the Dock (or onto the folder list panel in Entourage). Entourage will import the entire folder of messages, preserving all characteristics. If you have messages scattered throughout several folders, mixed in with messages you don't want to transfer, you will need to select and drag the individual messages (one at a time or all at once, does not matter). Drag the resulting .eml files (individual messages) into the Entourage folder you want them to be in. Note: These will not be "incoming" messages and so your rules will not be applied. I'm not entirely certain whether the category of the sender or recipient will be applied to the messages; I think not. You may have to apply the categories manually. If you don't want to invest in the Ethernet crossover cable (which to me is an essential item for frequent file transfers to and from a laptop), you can still do the same trick by dragging the message files to the external hard drive, then dismounting that drive and mounting it on the other machine. -- Microsoft MVP for Entourage/OE/Word (MVPs are volunteers) Allen Watson <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Entourage FAQ site: <http://www.entourage.mvps.org/> AppleScripts for Outlook Express and Entourage: <http://members.thinkaccess.net/[EMAIL PROTECTED]/Scripts/> Entourage Help Pages: <http://www.entourage.mvps.org/> -- To unsubscribe: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> archives: <http://www.mail-archive.com/entourage-talk%40lists.letterrip.com/> old-archive: <http://www.mail-archive.com/entourage-talk%40lists.boingo.com/>
