Using Ent X

Twice tonight I went to send an email and I got the error message "Mail could not be sent using the account 'RichardMail.' A connection failure has occurred." I was still definitely connected, as emails were coming in even as the error message appeared. I disconnected and reconnected and got the same error message. What's that about? Thanks.
