You can do it that way, but it's not very efficient if your Identity
database is large - as is mine (over 2 GB); however it works ok if you need
to populate the "other" machine with a mail DB one time.

Then synchronize the two by selecting "leave mail on server" if you have a
pop mail account in the account options. That way you will redownload mail
left on the server on the "other" machine and the 2 should stay sync'ed up.
