Thanks, Beth! I have to admit I'd forgotten about that Remove Tool until you
reminded me of it.

I just ran it, then emptied the trash, repaired permissions and installed a
new copy of Entourage. Guess what happened? Not only do I still get the
"access permission is denied" error, but once again all my old preferences
were still in place.

That leads me to believe that perhaps the prefs I'm seeing are stored in the
Database?? I don't know, but I *do* know that they persist through all
trashings.

Everything in the the ~/Documents/Microsoft User Data/Office X
Identities/Main Identity/ folder has read/write permission and I have
rebuilt the Database. I just don't get it.
