I think that there's a permissions problem with preferences files in the ~/Library/Preferences/ folder - since the error refers to a "preference" file. Permissions here (any where in the ~ user folder) are not fixed by running Repair Disk Permissions in Disk Utility - you have to do them manually.
If you actually removed the whole Microsoft folder from there before starting out, TRASH it, log out (Apple menu), log in, and EMPTY THE TRASH. Files in the Trash, or elsewhere on disk, can sometimes act as if they're still open in their original location. I don't know why everyone is advising to remove old prefs anyway - it shouldn't be necessary. But once you've gone this far, go all the way. I suspect that the problem will have something to do with files in the trash or desktop instead of where they belong. You should also check permissions on the ~/Library/Preferences/ folder itself, just in case they're not Read & Write. (But you'd have other problems if they weren't.) -- Paul Berkowitz > From: Mickey Stevens <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > Reply-To: "Entourage:mac Talk" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > Date: Wed, 12 May 2004 17:36:58 -0500 > To: "Entourage:mac Talk" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > Subject: Re: Access permission is denied *revisited* > > On 5/12/04 4:55 PM, "Beth Rosengard" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > >> On 5/12/04 1:58 PM, "Bill White" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: >> >>>> When you trashed preferences before, did you include the Preferences file >>>> that's in your Main Identity folder?
