I'm finding they aren't working together. I host my clients mail on my
server. The same server I use for my own and a bunch of other domains.
We did the switch last weekend, and they've been complaining of errors
ever since. Not believing things were set up properly, I made a trip to
their office and home today. Both are served by Comcasts home cable
internet product. After verifying that everything is set up properly, I
still wasn't able to get a consistent good connection from either
location. At the office (before I went to their house), I blamed it on
the wireless network. At home, I blamed it on Comcast. But using
Apple's Mail, the problems disappear. Problem is the customer paid good
money for Entourage and they want to use it. And their previous mail,
(POP only) worked fine. So it's up to me to solve it.
The error on my mail server when they connect with Entourage is
"Connection reset by peer." Is there any way to tell Entourage not to
give up so quickly when it it tries the connection? It wouldn't be such
a big deal, but when Entourage sees this error, it assumes either bad
password or bad login id, which it then prompts you for. And if you
don't hit no, it will remove the password from the keychain.
This same problem is occurring on both client's computers, and when I
brought my machine onto their network, my Entourage started complaining
just like theirs was.
It's driving me nuts. Any ideas where to turn?
