I have a client running a few Macs and they have Entourage X. Two of their users have recently encountered a problem where Entourage, on startup, tells them that they have to rebuild their Identity (or something like that?). They do the Typical Rebuild but that almost never works. So they do the Advanced Rebuild and that almost always works.
One user, however, finally got to the point where repeated attempts at Advanced Rebuild did not succeed. So we installed the trial version of Entourage 2004 on her machine and had it import from her Mail Identity. It brought over her folder structure, address book and calendar, but essentially none of her many e-mail messages. Is there any hope that we might be able to recover those messages? (and no, she didn't do any backups) I'm fairly new to supporting Macs so I'm not familiar with all of the tools available for such things.
Second user is a similar situation, her Advanced Rebuild did work, but it appears that she lost some (but not all) of the e-mails from her inbox. And we have the same question…any hope of recovering those somehow? She is still running Entourage X.

Repeated rebuilds should indicate that there is trouble and no one should have to say it you haven’t started making backups you should start NOW.
Tip: the easiest way to backup is create a Task in Entourage to remind you to duplicate your Identity folder. Read about the options here:
