But it doesn't *have* to be this way. When importing the mbox file,
Entourage doesn't have to set the Received time to the time of import. It
could use the "From " (not the From: header, mind you) lines from the mbox
itself.

Having said that, wouldn't your script, Barry, that resets the Entourage
Received date to the date in the first Received header, function as a
workaround to this problem?
