MacFixIt is running a story suggesting that Office Notifications can cause Mac portables to have problems waking from sleep (text below):

I'm not convinced either way, so it'd be good to hear from others on the list if this is an issue that can be reproduced. Several users have begun to implicate specific third-party applications in this issue. MacFixIt reader Gregory Bramblett describes how the problem only occurred on his system when using Microsoft's Office notifications: "Microsoft Entourage Notifications crashes the Power Book. Disable Office Notifications, and the machine will work normally, awakening by opening the lid or 1 touch of the power button. "At first I didn't think that I had the same problem as has recently been reported: G4 power book goes into sleep mode when closing lid or after inactivity timeout. Now I have experienced the same thing as everyone else. immediate reawakening without restarting is a feature I love, and I was greatly disappointed when I found that I had to restart the machine 10 to 15 times a day. [...] It is worth noting that preventing this glitch is not an insurmountable software engineering problem. Palm Desktop has never caused me the same headaches.
