We've been over this in the past, but it really isn't just an issue of disk space - even though it can add up if you have, say, 1000 users with home directories on a server. It's a fact that a lot of creative users have a need for a tightly managed font set - installing a bunch of fonts in ~/Library/Fonts with no obvious way to opt out is really unhelpful, both to the users and those of us who support them. It's becoming a well-known issue amongst the latter group, too - it came up during three of the seminars that I attended at the recent Macworld Expo.
