Jenny:

Maybe our doves will adapt to the presence of pigeons in a few years.
We never had more than a handful of pigeons in Minneapolis until
recently, perhaps the mild winters of recent years has increased their
survival, or has allowed people so sit outside and feed the pigeons all
winter.

I am not sure what the university does with pigeons--you call them and
the pigeons disappear in a few days. The university does follow very
strict procedures for ethical treatment of animals, however, and all
employees who deal with animals have to take special course before they
are allowed to do anything.

I did find a number of articles about pigeon and Canada goose control
with ovo-control and other chemicals--will send those to your personal
e-mail address.

Our neighborhood has fewer pigeons this summer than last, and the main
difference is that the ravens showed up. If so, thats an ideal form of
pigeon control.
