CDS is promoted by and works within the fold of the apex academy of the state of UP in India, called UP Academy of Administration. CDS works through its 10 Project Management Units, handling various thematic projects. Our Objective: Project Management Unit for Community Mobilization, Gender and Panchayati Raj (rural local self-government) has been designing and implementing capacity-building activities for the World Bank assisted UP Rural Water Supply and Environmental Sanitation Project, popularly known as the Swajal Project regularly since 1997. The Seventh and the Eighth World Bank Supervisory Missions in May and December, 2000 respectively for the project have highlighted the need of having international exposure for project functionaries. What we are looking for: We shall be grateful if you could let us know about the successful community based, demand responsive participatory interventions in rural water supply and sanitation in the region of your operation and also suggest whether it could be possible to organize an exposure and study visit to some of these projects for the Swajal project functionaries. An estimate of the cost involved would be of great help. We propose to organize these visits between March to April 2001. You may specifically respond to: 1. Interested agencies/ organizations who could assist us in organizing observation study tours 2. Per day cost for per participant (including all expenses of Lodging & Boarding, Field visit travel cost, institutional charges, workshop material and venue etc.) We would bear the cost of International travel. 3. Suitable time and duration for event. After receiving the relevant information and conversation in this regard we would like to have a formal Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for organising the event. An early response would be highly appreciated.
