Hi Gerry,
The 100-400 is quite an unwieldy lens. Last summer, I was bicycling at a
local urban wildlife preserve (i.e. landfill), and found that if I looped
one side of my camera strap around the tripod-mount-foot of the lens, the
the camera with lens would lie obliquely across my chest. The weight of
the camera body+lens was distributed over two points, and not solely via
the lens mount.
I could cycle from one point to another chasing cormorants, terns, and
gulls. Also allows for a quick getaway when being chased by angry Canada
Geese :-)
Would this work with your neoprene strap?
Could you reinforce your strap with some elastic waistband material
in case the neoprene breaks?
Cheers
