I am in the market to buy a new lens, covering the 24-80 (or 105) range to
replace the 28-80 USM (crappy) lens. I am looking for good image quality. It
does not have to be the exact focal lenghts I mentioned. I will use such
lens most of the time, and am planning to use it to shoot outdoors as well
as indoor dance pictures (swing and salsa dancing) using my 420ex flash
(dance pictures require fast focusing). I already have a Canon Elan IIe,
50mm 1.8, and 100-300 5.6.
I am considering 28-135 IS, along with Sigma 28-70mm f/2.8 EX Aspherical,
Tokina AF28-70mm f/2.6-2.8 AT-X
PRO HLD, Tokina AF28-80mm f/2.8 AT-X PRO. Any other ideas? HOw about 28-105
F2.8 TAMRON Asperical? I think there were more recent Canon lenses covering
this range as well. There is also the used 28-80 F2.8-4 L USM, but that
seems a bit more expensive around $750, and might be too big to carry
around.
Any feedback is appreciated.
