I'll be the first to agree that the PB-E2 is wildly overpriced for what it
does, but the vertical shutter release and controls make it very useful
for portrait subjects, especially if the 70-200/2.8 is your portrait lens.

With the PB-E2, the hands are in a more comfortable position when holding
the camera vertically.
