Unless this turns out to be the sharpest lens in the history of 35mm
photography, I have to admit that I fail to see the point of it too. And
even then, if you were going to make the sharpest lens available, why not
make it autofocus? The only theory that even seemed remotely plausible was
that maybe Nikon has some retro MF rangefinder in the works with the same
color scheme, but that sounds even more unlikely.
