Sure! And why settle for simple spot metering? Lets do multi-spot metering like
those expensive handheld lightmeters have.

Also, let's teach the built-in flash to do ETTL, second curtain sync, flash
bracketing, and to remotely control other flashes like a 550EX does.

Next, we can replace the 'idiot modes' on the command dail with some custom
program modes that may actually get used. How about a very long exposure mode
for astronomy, a focus trip mode that automatically fires the shutter when the
selected AF sensor detects a lock or movement, or a lightning trip mode that
fires the shutter when a sudden increase in light levels is detected. That
still leaves 2 or 3 'idiot modes' open for replacement. Suggestions, anyone?

Maybe we should start by porting the firmware for the 1V. Anyone interested in
a eos 30 that does 10 fps? Okay, that probably won't work. The x-sync speed on
the eos 30 is 1/125 seconds, so it probably cant go faster than 8 frames per
second. Maybe we should try the firmware for the eos 3 instead. It's not as
fast, but it would still give use measurements in 1/3 stop increments.

Also, i'm wondering about the sensors, you know, AF, lightmeter and remote
control. Are any of them sensitive to infrared? Maybe we could control or
program the camera using one of those infrared ports on a laptop or PDA. We'd
have to be really carefull with this though. The camera might catch a computer
virus this way...
