Perhaps the greatest reason for my reluctance to buy an EOS 7 is its AF
assist system. I often find myself taking pictures in low light and am
frustrated when AF (Maxxum 600 and Elan IIe) have trouble finding and
keeping focus. There is only so much that any system can do, but I wonder
which cameras have the best system, which would include, ideally, the most
sensitive AF to begin with plus a strong, non-intrusive (i.e. infrared or at
least dark red) AF assist light.

In short, the 7 may still be OK if its AF sensitivity is improved over the
II. But what of the other models? I am still looking at the big and
expensive Maxxum 7 as my next camera, but I would much prefer a Canon.
