Do you think newspapers really need 6 Mpixel images? They seem quite happy
with
whatever a DCS520 gives them. Magazines might be a different story, but
they
don't have the tight deadlines of a newspaper. Right now, digital's biggest
advantage is fast delivery, something film can't touch.

No Geoff, newspapers wil use lower resolution considering the mediocre
quality of the printed photographs.
Magazines on the other hand want better quality. Since you skip the extra
step (no need to scan a photo/trannie) when you use digital, plus you have
the ability to transmit (usually low res for newspapers) images, digital
SLRs will be hard to beat. Unless Canon can build a better mouse trap,
Nikon wil own the digital market.

Yes, I know Minolta had the first AF camera, but Nikon was king in the PJ
market. Canon came along with their faster AF and USM Lenses and won over
the PJs and other journalists. Now its equal with Nikon AF-S lenses. If it
stays that way, he who is first to the digital market will be king of the
hill.
